This is a WW-1 M-18 that was reissued with smooth apple green paint as a transitional helmet prior to WW-2. The helmet was reissued again early in the war. At this time it received a coat of wartime textured paint on the outside of the shell, and the Wehrmacht decal was left exposed. If it had a tri-color decal it was painted over at this time, as per regulation. However the paint in the area of the tri-color decal has no scratches or chips, so there is no way to tell if that decal exists on this helmet.
The liner is the 1938/39(and very early 40) vintage aluminum reinforced band. The chinstrap rings are aluminum, but bent like the steel rings that were introduced in 1940, rather than the traditional cast aluminum. Leather is in good shape. Liner is original to this helmet and has not been taken out. Shell is marked ET66.
